  • Demand the Durham Police Department to hire the most qualified candidates to serve and protect the citizens of Durham

  • The City must refute the 30X30 Pledge(pg. 254) to achieve 30% female representation in recruitment classes for the Durham Police Department  by 2030

  • Metal detectors must be installed in all DPS schools using funds from either Capital Improvement or remaining ARPA funds expiring December 2026.

  • Restore  ShotSpotter as a tool help law enforcement and insist DPD patrol high crime areas to deter illegal activity and bring solace to communities.

  • Fortify each Go-Durham bus-stop with adequate wait-space and shelter 

  • Better lit streets and parks

  • Target illegal gangs that terrorize neighborhoods with more DPD surveillance.

  • Hold parents accountable for juvenile gun crimes commited with weapons they own.

  • Initiate the usage of license plate readers as an additional tool to surveil distracted & aggressive drivers, stolen vehicles, wanted and missing persons, and sexual predators.
